Community

In this month’s newsletter, I explore the concept of community—its necessity, formation, and impact on individual and collective well-being.

Table of contents:

The Need for a Community

The idea of creating a community was inspired by my uncle’s encouragement, and it has made me reflect deeply on its importance. A well-structured community provides a sense of belonging, emotional and practical support, shared wisdom, and opportunities to create meaningful memories.

  • Who will be there to lift us when we fall?
  • Who will guide and care for our children if we cannot?
  • Are we truly alone in this world, or can we build a network to support and uplift one another?

These questions highlight the profound role a community can play in shaping a secure and connected life for all its members.

Forming the Community

Building a sustainable and impactful community requires intentional planning, robust structures, and systems to ensure it remains true to its purpose and values.

Proposed Hierarchy:

  1. Community Council Leaders
  2. Community Elders
  3. Community Council Advisors
  4. Community Youth Leaders
  5. Community Council Members

Community Vision:

To empower younger generations to grow into future leaders, achieve their goals, and contribute meaningfully to a shared purpose.

Community Purpose:

To create an environment where every member feels welcomed, supported, empowered, and valued.

Core Principles

  • Show kindness and respect to others.
  • Treat others as you wish to be treated.
  • Act with honesty, integrity, and leadership.
  • Embrace self-acceptance and appreciate diversity.
  • Strive for excellence and support fellow members.
  • Share knowledge and wisdom freely.
  • Build and maintain trust within the group.
  • Foster a family-like environment and resolve conflicts with forgiveness.

Community Goals:

  1. Build a network of community members that support each other and care for one another
  2. Ensure the continual development of members within the community especially the younger generation
  3. Invest in education and the development of businesses that support the community
  4. Provide support for one another within the community through the sharing of knowledge, wisdom, sponsorship, endorsements and finances if appropriate

By forming a community, we can ensure that our families and children have a better future and circumstances than ours. Through the formation of the community, we can learn to support ourselves and also support each other to become the best versions of ourselves.

Improvements

This month, I aim to enhance time management and maintain focus on my priorities, ensuring I meet both professional and personal goals.

Perspective in Life

I want to continue to pursue my dreams and goals while making a positive impact on the lives of those around me.

Family Advice

For the first time every I feel like I have a more deeper and closer connection to my family. I think this is because I am growing older and more mature which helps me understand different aspects of the concept or idea of a family. My maturity has helped me understand the flaws of my family members and my own as well as the struggles, hardships, issues, strength and willpower required for someone like a parent to deal with different aspects of maintaining family life. Furthermore, my maturity has aided me when having a conversation with my siblings who think they know everything as I would at their age. I am able to maintain a balance between being the authority figure and the friend that they need in life. It is like a battle between being nice and stern, a perfect mixture, I think.
