Self-growth advice
1. Invest in Yourself
The most valuable investment you’ll ever make is in yourself. As men, building our character, skills, and value is crucial to caring for those we love. Prioritize your personal development—it’s the foundation for a meaningful life and enduring success.
2. Seek Advice, Make Your Own Decisions
It’s wise to consult those who have your best interests at heart, whether a lifelong friend, family member, or mentor. However, the ultimate responsibility lies with you. Make decisions that align with your goals and values, and own the outcomes. Remember, it’s better to live with your own choices than to regret following someone else’s path.
3. Nurture Your Mental Health
Mental health is a cornerstone of well-being. Recognizing when you’re struggling and seeking help is vital. Whether you lean on trusted friends, family, or professionals, addressing mental health challenges early helps prevent long-term complications and fosters resilience.
4. Embrace Happiness and Contentment
Life is a unique journey—don’t waste energy comparing yourself to others. Celebrate your progress, stay grateful, and uplift those around you. Jealousy and negativity hinder growth, while gratitude and positivity unlock fulfillment.
Improvements
None of us are perfect, and self-awareness is key to growth. Regularly reflect on areas for improvement in your life. A weekly review can help identify what’s slipping and keep you focused on your goals.
My areas for improvement:
- Self discipline
- Self belief
- Commitment to my long term goals
- Gratitude for family and friends
Perspective in Life
I touched on this topic a little bit before, but I feel like it is important to discuss even more. Gratitude transforms how we view life. Appreciate the simple blessings—a supportive family, access to education, or the opportunity to grow. Even in tough times, maintaining a positive perspective cultivates resilience and joy.
Finances
Financial literacy is essential for achieving your goals. Tracking your finances with tools like a budget spreadsheet can provide clarity and direction. I’ve shared my personal financial toolkit as a starting point—feel free to adapt it to suit your needs.
Family Advice
Family is important, even though we do not get a say in the decision of the family that we are born into. Family can be a very complex area of life, especially because family can influence our life in such as tremendous way such as mental health, stability and fulfilment. I am no expert in family matters but from experience it can be difficult at times in regards to family matters. I think a good way to deal with issues is give it the best you have and try to make a positive contribution to the lives of the people in your family. If you cannot be a positive contributor or they are negatively affecting your life then you have to make personal decisions to solve these issues such as distancing yourself, having a discussion with the family member and seeking advice from a trained professional. Furthermore, I think that we should all take some time to try and spend time with our family, we need to make sure to check on the most important people in our lives and create moments that will be remembered.
In summary, family plays a pivotal role in our lives, often shaping our mental and emotional well-being. While relationships can be complex, strive to contribute positively. Where challenges arise, address them through communication, boundaries, or professional guidance. Remember to cherish moments with your loved ones—they’re priceless.
My Month
This month has been a journey of growth and adjustment. Starting a new role has challenged me intellectually while I pursue other aspirations. Simplifying my schedule and setting realistic goals has been pivotal. A quote that has inspired me during this period is:
"Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship" - Denzel Washington

Quote of the Month
As this is a month of growth, I think this is the best quote that relates to me right now:
“You don't try to build a wall, you don't set out to build a wall. You don't say 'I'm going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that's ever been built. ' You don't start there… You say 'I'm going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid.’ And you do that every single day and soon you have a wall.” - Will Smith
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s continue striving for growth, purpose, and fulfillment.
Warm regards,
Yusri Kardo
